Hypnobirthing in Northumberland, for the natural birth you're deeply craving...

You already know you don't just want the standard antenatal classes;  You're not looking to be handed a sheet about the stages of labour, some basic breathing techniques and sent on your way.

You're not trying to just cope with birth or learn about pain relief methods...

You want this to be an experience that ignites your inner power.

If you're planning a home birth, a free birth, or a midwifery-led birth...

You've probably already noticed that most antental or hypnobirthing classes out there wasn't built with you in mind.

This course has been.

Northumberland hypnobirthing.jpg

You've been doing your research... Reading all the positive home birth blogs, listening to every podcast, quietly building a case for the birth you want while fielding everyone else's opinions about it.

And somewhere between the raised eyebrows, the appointments that leave you feeling a bit flat and the 2am instagram rabbit holes, it's all started to feel a bit... exhausting.

Not because you doubt yourself exactly, but because you've spent so long having to justify this to everyone else that you've barely had the space to actually start to prepare yet.

You know what you want; a home birth, or as close to one as possible.

A birth that feels like yours, where your body is respected as the authority it actually is, where your partner truly understands how to be with you, and where you walk out the other side feeling like you did that - not like it happened to you.

What you're craving isn't more information, you already have plenty of that.

What you want is to feel genuinely ready - in your body, your mind, in that quiet part of you that still carries a whisper of doubt about whether you're strong enough, capable enough, the 'right kind of woman' to birth the way you're imagining (spoiler - neither am I - but I still flipping rocked my free birth...!

You want someone on your team who doesn't need convincing that what you're planning is valid.

Imagine having a Doula on your team who actually gets it. Who has had the honour of witnessing women birthing in their power at home enough times to know exactly what you need, and who sees your choices not as radical but as deeply, entirely reasonable.

That's what these sessions are for.

Birth preparation built around your specific reality - the appointments that leave you feeling deflated, the system you're learning to navigate on your own terms, the relationship with your body you're still growing into, and the birth you already know, deep down, is possible.

By the time we're done, you won't just be hoping it goes the way you want. You'll know, in your bones, that you are ready.

What makes this birth preparation different?

Private hypnobirthing, led by one of the North East's most experienced home birth doulas.

This is bespoke, doula-led birth preparation that goes far deeper than breathing techniques and relaxation scripts. We work on your mind, your body, your relationship with birth itself, and the specific reality of the natural/ home birth you're actually planning.

Over the years, having led hundreds of couples through my award winning hypnobirthing courses - something became really clear to me...

Traditional hypnobirthing is geared towards hospital birth.

I know this might be somewhat controversial - and don't get me wrong, hypnobirthing is brilliant, and especially needed for hospital birth.

But it doesn't take into account the unique landscape of planning a home birth; the pressure, the appointments, the practicalities.

A lot of it also just isn't needed for home birth, because a large part of 'standard' hypnobirthing is about tricking your body into feeling safe in a clinical, unfamiliar space.

Your home already feels familiar. You're already safe.

But that by no means you therefore just need the breathing and a good dose of 'let's know the statistics and hope for the best'...

What you need is for you and your partner to go deeper - into embodied trust, instinctive knowledge, and the unshakeable conviction that you can do this entirely on your own terms.

That's exactly what my private, in person course is for.

“With Jess’ support, I never feared the outcome and felt able to trust my body and my decisions.”

Pregnancy Group in Northumberland

Session 1: The Mind/Body Connection...

We begin with the most powerful place of all - your mind.

In this session, we’ll explore how your thoughts, fears and beliefs around birth can directly impact the way your labour unfolds.

You’ll learn simple yet powerful hypnobirthing techniques to rewire those patterns, release fear, and move into a space of deep trust.

This is where the real preparation begins – clearing the path for your body to do what it already knows how to do.

Session 2: (How) Birth Works

Let’s demystify labour. In this session, we dive deep into how the body works during physiological birth when left undisturbed.

We’ll explore what starts labour, how contractions build, what the different phases might look and feel like, and most importantly - what you and your partner can do at each stage to support the flow of labour.

Knowledge is power, and this is where you’ll gain it.

Session 3: Birth rights, choices & interventions...

This is your body, your baby, and your birth - and this session is where we make sure you feel that in your bones.

We shine a light on the landscape of modern maternity care, looking at interventions both at home and within the hospital (incase you transfer or change plans) your rights, and how to navigate it all with clarity and calm.

You'll leave knowing how to ask the right questions and how to advocate for yourself without apology, which matters enormously for home birthers trying to navigate a system that wasn't designed with you in mind.

Session 4: Biomechanics and preparing your body for birth
(Enhanced Support package)

This final session is all about supporting your body ahead of birth.

We’ll explore gentle biomechanics - practical ways you can encourage optimal baby positioning, so that your labour is as smooth, safe and (dare I say..!) minimally painful as possible.

I'll be teaching your partner my tried and tested methods for providing you with comfort in labour, using a rebozo scarf (you'll be gifted one on the day!).

These are the skills that can make or break a birth in terms of whether you feel able to 'cope' with the intensity, but also the tools your partner needs to feel competent and able to give meaningful help.

Review positively Pregnant

Meet your hypnobirthing teacher...

Hi! I'm Jessica Ord, award winning home birth Doula, author & hypnobirthing specialist.

I've had two births. One in hospital that was, on paper, completely fine. And one at home that changed who I am.

My hospital birth left me feeling like birth was something that happened to me.

I walked out of that experience feeling like a passenger in the most significant moment of my life.

By the time I was pregnant with my daughter Primrose, I had spent years training and was already one of the country's leading hypnobirthing educators.

I knew what helped birth and what hindered it. I knew I wanted a home birth. And I still found myself spiralling, still found myself quietly clinging to statistics to justify my own decisions, still quietly wondering whether you had to be a particular kind of woman to pull this off.

So I went deeper; I explored birth from an ancestral perspective, did the inner work on the things I knew would trip me up in labour, and prepared my body properly with all of the tools I teach my clients.

I birthed Primrose in the pool, at home, surrounded by people I loved and trusted. And I came out of that experience not just as a mother, but as someone who finally understood what she was made of.

That journey is woven into everything I teach.

HELPING PARENTS ACROSS THE UK

Although my 'in person' birth prep and doula care are based from our idyllic family farm in Northumberland, I proudly work with parents from across the UK and beyond through my flagship online course Born at Home - the UKs only online home birth prep course.

Rebeccas's positive birth story...

"I still don't fully have the words for what this birth meant to me, but it was like a gift from the universe to experience such a raw, healthy, primal joy.

Labour was so magical...getting into the pool was bliss, and then I had a little panic. The midwife told me to feel for the baby's head. And the whole world went still. I didn't feel any pain at all, just total sublime joy and awe.

And then I just held his head and waited, it was like time was suspended & I knew I was about to meet my baby."

Did you know....

By law, you're entitled to paid time off for antenatal classes (including these ones!)

In the UK you're allowed to take time out of work in order to attend your antenatal appointments; a lot of people think this just means your scans & midwife/ consultant appointments. But the government also include in this 'parentcraft' classes, yoga and 'relaxation' classes.

Your birth preparation & Hypnobirthing sessions with me absolutely count in this legal allowance, so no need to book 'holiday' time off with work.

The Born at Home Studio is open Monday - Friday 9am-3pm, with the occasional Saturday morning available for clients on the 'Antental Doula Support package'

The course was amazing from start to finish.

Jessica was so warm and welcoming, she has the kindest soul and makes you feel at ease.
She was full of knowledge and helps you look at all angles of your options for birth.

I loved learning about about the rights we have as pregnant women; the course is something I won’t ever forget and has really helped me to prepare for birth. I no longer feel scared but instead I feel excited, positive and empowered.
Amazing, amazing, amazing!!

Beccy, 1st time mum

Loved the hypnobirthing course! It really helped me to get into the right mindset before giving birth to my first baby.

I found my hospital birth to be a very positive experience and even though I didn’t plan a water birth my labour went so quickly that I ended up having an unmedicated water birth, in a beautiful room just as I dreamed of but before the course didn’t think was possible.

Hanna, 1st time Mum

Jess was an absolutely crucial role in our pregnancy and birth.

Our home birth was 3 days long, in the end, and it was an emotional and physical marathon for me. And for her, too…a lot of hip pressing was involved!

But with Jess’ steadfast support and confidence, I never feared the outcome. I learned to trust in my decisions, in my body and was able to have the birth I’d always wanted.

Whenever I think back to the birth, I can see Jess there...gently encouraging and supporting us throughout, like some kind of birth angel!
